The Journey of an Architect – IAP Daastan-e-Mimar: A Talk by Ar. Ejaz A. Qadri

IAP, Rawalpindi-Islamabad Chapter has been instrumental in organizing multiple events like talks, excursion trips, workshops, musical evenings, IAPEX and get togethers for the benefit and learning of its members.

A young and energetic team lead by the experienced Chairman has been extremely busy all year round planning some wonderful events including the recently held Daastan E Mimar 4.0, a talk by the eminent Ar. Ejaz A. Qadri. This has been a popular series started by the Executive Committee 2022-2023 showcasing young & emerging architects, mentors and international names who have been able to talk about their personal journey and experiences on the platform of IAP.

The event started with recitation of the Holy Quran followed by the National Anthem and introduction of the series by the MOC’s of the day, Vice Chairman Ar. Salman J. Malik & Hon. Secretary Ar. Mehreen Muzaffar. The Chairman, Ar. Fawad Suhail Abbasi gave his welcome speech, an overview of the initiatives taken and appreciated his team for another well attended event by the chapter. He thanked the seniors, architects and students for attending in large numbers and making these programs memorable. He especially thanked the industry partners for their support to make these events possible.

Ar. Ejaz A. Qadri spoke about his journey in architecture and his life in general; his migration from Quetta to Islamabad and building an office, with branches in other cities also. His design has always been people centric, dramatic & experiential with a focus on materials, his belief in the next generation and his many initiatives besides his extremely busy practice. He spoke about his inspirations and what led him to be an architect, his struggles and achievements and how he balances work and family time.

His presentation was extremely interactive with sketches, conceptual and built work. He is a popular teacher both at work and at NCA where he is a visiting professor where he shares his experiences with young and upcoming architects, his drive and what makes him loved by so many people. 

His presentation was followed by a Q&A session and closing remarks by the Chairman.

A special ceremony was also held after where prominent architects of RIC gave token of appreciation to the Speaker and Industry Partners. These included Architects Suhail Abbasi, Naveed Aslam, Salman Mansoor, Arif Masood, Zainul Abedin, Tahir Banuri, Jahangir Sherpao, Azmat Zaidi, Uzma Zain, Kabeer Malik, Usama Bin Murad, Shoaib Malik, Muhammad Attique & Jamshaid Khan.

The IAP event was attended by a large number senior & junior architects and students who were not only able to listen & learn from the experience of Ar. Ejaz Qadri but meet iconic architects, colleagues and friends too.
