According to the PCATP press release issued to ARCHI TIMES stated that the Curriculum Division of Higher Education Commission of Pakistan (HEC) in collaboration with Pakistan Council of Architects and Town Planners (PCATP) organized the second session of NCRC meeting on 4th and 5th September, 2023 at the HEC Regional Office, Karachi. Senior academicians/ HoDs /Deans from HEC’s recognized universities /institution, PCATP representatives and practicing architects from the industry participated in two days of hectic discussion to finalized the revised curriculum of B-Arch and M- Arch programs, brining it in line with the modern trends- the new challenges of the profession and at par with the international standards.
The meeting was held under the convenorship of Ar. M. Arif Changezi, Chairman PCATP who along with Prof Dr Muhammad Arif Khan- Vice Chairman (Architecture), Dr Raaeha Abidi- Education Nominee, EC members- Dr Yasmeen Ahmed and Ar. Irfan Ahmed Memon represented the PCATP in the meeting. The interactive sessions were conducted by Mr. Hidayatullah Kasi, Director, Academics-HEC in the most professional manner. Engr. Muhammad Raza Chohan, Advisor (Academics, Curriculum & NAHE) attended the concluding session and shared his valuable thoughts with the participants emphasizing the need to develop a quality document, not only for the architectural education but for other professions to emulate the approach.
The first NCRC was held at HEC Lahore on 2nd & 3rd March, 2023. Senior academicians from HEC’s recognized universities/ institutions and practicing Architects were invited to discuss and prepare a draft revised curriculum for further deliberations with a larger group in the 2nd NCRC Meeting at Karachi, before being finalized and implemented.
It is for the first time, B-Arch program curriculum is being revised after 2013, through the efforts of Chairman and the Executive Committee-PCATP, which will be implemented in all the architectural schools/ institutions across the country, once approved by the HEC.
